Cape Town Video Production
Cape Town is an idyllic tourist spot on the shores of South Africa. The densely populated city is renowned for having the luxury of offering both sweeping mountain and coastal views. There are a number of locations within Cape Town that can’t be missed by amateur and professional videographers. Before producing Cape Town videos, check with local and provincial authorities on having the proper documentation to commence filming.
The process was smooth and easy for me, and the results were produced fast. Thank you!Solange Francois
Looking to catch a slice of urban life? Then, make it a point to shoot footage at V & A Waterfront. This area is located in the heart of the harbor section of Cape Town and will have the largest throngs of people attempting to explore Cape Town’s historic waterfront. Also, get your B roll complete with shots of the boats on the water and the guided chopper tours.
Table View Beach
Looking to make the definitive video to show what Cape Town is all about? Then,sShoot on location at Table View Beach with the looming Table Mountain in the backdrop. The rocky shores and crashing waves can help you tell your story. Couples and romantic-themed videos are ideal for this locale.
For the nature documentarian, Boulders Beach is a must on your list of spots within Cape Town. For the past 30 years, part of the beach has been taken over by South African penguins. Currently, there are an estimated 3,000 penguins resting along the beach’s oversized grey rocks. The rocks act as natural protectors against wind gusts, which can be useful tool for videographers.
Kalk Bay Harbor
Kalk Bay Harbor is a magnificent spot for those looking to produce historical video pieces. The harbor is considered the most “retro” spot in the Cape Town area. This bohemian vibe comes from the fishing village’s slew of craft stores, antique shops, and shopping boutiques. Keep in mind the surrounding mountain range casts a long shadow in the afternoon. Schedule any filming in the early morning to secure the best natural lighting. The harbor also is surrounded by a unique set of caves—worthy of hours of film.
To showcase the natural beauty of Cape Town, videographers have several options. One is to shoot Cape Town video at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. The garden is located near one of the slopes of Table Mountain and has been said to contain one of the most magnificent botanical collections in the world. Another option is to head on over to West Coast National Park. August and September are the best times for filming since the park’s wildflowers are in full bloom.
